After the event, Cody hand-delivered the money she had raised to Farm Sanctuary's new home in Watkins Glen, New York. While in Watkins Glen, Cody had the opportunity of meeting the Bauston's and all of the rescued animals living at the sanctuary. She immediately fell in love with the place and dedicated herself to helping further Farm Sanctuary's mission in any way she could. Today, Cody has just finished coordinating the 14th annual Michigan Walk for Farm Animals. Always looking to do more for farm animals, Cody has dedicated her time and talents to countless Farm Sanctuary efforts over the years. In 1988, she coordinated the Lancaster Stockyard protest bus. This bus brought animal supporters from Michigan to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to an auction yard accused of mistreating farm animals. At the stockyard, Cody and other protestors staffed a Farm Sanctuary information table and voiced their concern for the mistreated animals. Later, she volunteered for our Turkey Express, helping adopted turkeys reach their new homes in Michigan. In addition to her volunteer work, Cody supports Farm Sanctuary through her sponsorship of four animals in our Adopt-A-Farm Animal Project, including a very lucky pig named Winnie. When asked what she likes most about Farm Sanctuary, Cody happily says that it is lying down next to Winnie in the pig barn and listening to all of the snoring. Thanks to Cody and other sponsors like her, we are able to continue our vital work on behalf of farm animals. Through the years, Cody has been one of Farm Sanctuary's most valuable assets and a powerful advocate for animals everywhere. In 1995, her unflagging efforts on behalf of farm animals were recognized when she received our first ever Friend of Farm Animal Award at our Country Hoe Down in New York. Her other animal rights achievements include being a board member of the Michigan Federation of Humane Societies of Animal Advocates (MFHSAA), a Friends of Wildlife rehabilitator, an adoption counselor at the Humane Society of Huron Valley, and a volunteer for the Sanctuary And Safe Haven for Animals (SASHA). She has also coordinated several bus trips to protests and conferences such as the Hegins pigeon shoot and the March for Animals in Washington DC. Cody, you
have been with Farm Sanctuary from the start. We can't even begin to thank
you for all that you do for farm animals, but Winnie and her friends,
and all of our staff, decided to give it a try! Together, we ARE making a difference.
