Outstanding Activist!

Diana Scott first became an animal advocate while petitioning to save the whales during her college years. She later attended several protest marches on the annual "Fur Free Friday" observance. This demonstration was organized in her hometown, Chicago, by an organization called A.R.M. - Animal Rights Mobilization. In 1990, Diana joined other ARM members on a trip to the St. Paul stockyards for a No Downers protest organized by Farm Sanctuary. It was there that she first saw Farm Sanctuary Co-Founder Lorri Bauston speak, and came to know the plight of farmed animals.

Diana joined Farm Sanctuary and visited the New York Shelter in 1994. She knew she wanted more of a hands-on experience with the animals she used to call "dinner," and in 1997, Diana and her husband relocated to northern California so that they could live near Farm Sanctuary West. She helped with animal care as a volunteer on the weekends for the next five years, and Diana continues to assist Farm Sanctuary during special events, helping with photography and videography needs.

"At times, our task as activists for farmed animals seems overwhelming. But then I look at all the progress Farm Sanctuary has made in the 18 years it's been in existence. The future would be far bleaker if there was no Farm Sanctuary, and I know my family of friends in this organization increases every day."

Thank you, Diana, for all of your help taking care of the Farm Sanctuary critters, and for donating your time and skills to provide touching portraits of our farm animal friends.

Together, we ARE making a difference. If you would like to find out more about volunteering your time to educate others about factory farming and vegetarianism, please contact us at activist@farmsanctuary.org, or call 607-583-2225 ext. 229. Click here to find out what YOU can do to help!
