Outstanding Activist!

Gayle Kvarme realized at the start of her adult years that she was a lover of animals. Like most of us who love animals, Gayle's home has been a refuge for many species--dogs, cats, rabbits, goats, sheep, chickens, and rats. She has been an advocate for farm animals living in her area for years. Working with local animal authorities, Gayle has learned the inadequacy of laws to protect farm animals--but her motivation has been enough to see beyond this hurdle and do everything that she can do.

Being a part of our Activist Network, Gayle has responded to many calls for grassroots activism, always jumping on the chance to write a letter or make a phone call on behalf of suffering farm animals. She has worked to gain raise public awareness about downed animal abuse and collected public comments in support of efforts to ban this cruel industry practice. She reached out to share the farm experience with her family when she brought them to our California Shelter to take part in the Thanksgiving Celebration FOR the Turkeys.

Gayle has also been our top activist placing Farm Sanctuary's Life Behind Bars videos in libraries. She read in an action alert that a generous donation made it possible for Farm Sanctuary to donate free copies of our poignant documentary, Life Behind Bars, to libraries willing to shelve a copy for public circulation....and she immediately went to work! Thanks to Gayle, dozens of Oregon libraries now have this documentary as part of their permanent collection, providing citizens in Oregon access to this powerful educational tool.

Thank you, Gayle, for your love and caring of many needy farm animals, and your invaluable contributions as an activist.
