Farm Animal Care Conference
September 20 & 21 – Watkins Glen, NY

Attention activists and animals lovers: This is your opportunity to get hands-on experience and learn, from the experts, how to start and run a farm animal sanctuary. During this unique weekend-long conference, you will learn the basics of farm animal care, fundraising, program administration, day-to-day operations, and challenges associated with running a farm animal sanctuary.

Farm Sanctuary’s National Shelter Director Susie Coston and California Shelter Director Leanne Cronquist will teach you how to feed, house and provide basic healthcare for pigs, cattle, sheep, goats, turkeys, rabbits, and chickens. Directors from our Education, Communications and Development Departments will offer guidance on coordinating educational efforts, instituting volunteer programs, reaching out to media and handling public relations, fundraising, and establishing a nonprofit organization. The Watkins Glen Shelter will be your classroom, and the resident animals will help you with your studies!

To get more hands-on experience, you can also volunteer on the farm for up to a week before and after the conference, helping with feeding, basic healthcare, daily projects, cleaning, and more.

Registration for this popular conference is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register early. The $150 per person registration fee includes catered vegan lunches during the conference. Volunteer opportunities are also limited, so please let us know when you register if you’d like to take advantage of extra time on the farm.

Overnight accommodations for this weekend are not provided; however, reasonably priced accommodations can be found in nearby Watkins Glen.

Please be advised that this conference is only for participants ages 18 and older. We regret any inconvenience this restriction may cause.
