Communications Project Coordinator
The Communications Project Coordinator handles the development and implementation of a variety of communication department projects, which may include coordinating design and print production; preparation of presentations, display materials, and other communications collateral; writing, editing, and proofreading.
Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of a variety of communications projects, including those supporting our development, education, shelter, and advocacy efforts as well as the Farm Sanctuary brand
- Ensure a strong understanding of departmental programs and objectives and deliver high quality communications support accordingly, including strategic planning, messaging, graphic design, content development, materials production, and project fulfillment coordination
- Coordinate all projects in conjunction with the Communications Program Manager
- Provide writing, editing, and proofreading support for print, direct mail, website, and social media collateral
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans for assigned areas
- Coordinate relevant activities, as needed, with online communications, photo/video editing, and other Communications staff members
- Support media relations
- Attend departmental meetings, events, and programs as assigned to evaluate the effectiveness of communications materials and support
- Create communications project archives for each project, including documentation of processes, key contacts, materials and specifications, lessons learned, and changes recommended to ensure continuous improvement of programs
- Build productive relationships with colleagues across the organization to ensure that all communications activities are managed efficiently
- Present a consistent brand image to internal and external audiences that is fully aligned with Farm Sanctuary’s mission
Qualifications
- At least 1–3 years of communications experience, including experience creating print materials , special events collateral, newsletters, online communications, and advertising/direct mail materials
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills; web writing experience preferred; writing samples required
- Strong project management skills with keen ability to prioritize and manage expectations across departments ; experience with project management tracking software and reporting preferred;
- Ability to work well as part of a diverse team, keeping others informed and highlighting opportunities and risks associated with projects

Job Specifications
- Full-time, non-exempt position
- Based in Watkins Glen, NY or Acton, CA preferred ; telecommuting considered for the right candidate
- Position reports to the Communications Program Manager
- Occasional travel to offsite meetings and sanctuary locations may be required
- Flexibility to work weekends and be on call when necessary
- Salary commensurate with experience
- Position is available through December 2013; possibility for extension or transition to regular position to be considered during 2014 budget process.
