New York Education & Advocacy Department Intern
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Staffing visitor center and gift store
- Giving guided tours of the shelter
- Maintaining visitor center facilities
- Preparing breakfast for cabin guests
- Assisting with Farm Sanctuary events
- Drafting documents to support advocacy efforts
- Internet research projects
- Phone call and correspondence projects
- Local outreach projects
Qualifications:
- Committment to veganism
- Knowledge about farm animal issues
- Knowledge about vegetarianism and veganism
- Good communication and outreach skills
- Strong writing ability
- Hard working and dependable
- Able to work well independently
Specifications:
- Volunteer commitment of 40 hours per week
- Two to three month commitment required
- Available year round
- Responsibilities will vary depending on time of year – from May to October there are more visitor center responsibilites
- Weekend and holiday hours required
- Shared housing available on sanctuary premises
