Farm Sanctuary Hosts Memorial Day Open House

Come Kiss a Cow, Hug a Turkey, or Give a Pig a Belly Rub

Watkins Glen, NY - May 31, 2004 - Farm Sanctuary will be hosting a Memorial Day Open House on Monday, May 31st. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet hundreds of rescued farm animals and take guided tours of the 175-acre farm. The event is free and open to the public.

In addition to meeting the cows, pigs, sheep, turkeys, and other farm animals who live at Farm Sanctuary, guests are invited to explore our unique visitor center filled with literature, videos, and educational displays and browse our country gift shop. Tours will be given every hour on the hour from 11am until 3pm.

Farm Sanctuary is a national, nonprofit organization with over 100,000 members, which operates the country's premier shelters for abused farm animals. Located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, our farm attracts thousands of visitors yearly and has been featured in countless national and regional news stories.

Directions: From Watkins Glen, follow Route 409 West (up hill on Fourth Street) and turn right onto Route 23/28. Stay on Route 23 as it branches off to the left (one mile). Continue on Route 23 for eight miles, then turn left onto Aikens Road. Follow Aikens Road for two miles until you see the Farm Sanctuary Visitor Center on the left. Look for Farm Sanctuary signs along the way.
