Farm Sanctuary Welcomes Loretta Swit as Special Guest to the Celebration FOR the Turkeys

Farm Sanctuary's Annual Celebration FOR the Turkeys in Orland, CA To Honor Rescued Turkeys

Orland, CA - November 14, 2005 - Farm Sanctuary, the nation's leading farm animal shelter and advocacy organization, will hold a special Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, November 19, at the Orland, California shelter, where turkeys sit as the guests of honor instead of the holiday menu. The Celebration FOR the Turkeys is part of the nationally recognized and celebrity-supported Adopt-A-Turkey Project, and serves as an integral part of the program's hands-on educational outreach focusing on compassionate consumption.

This Celebration FOR the Turkeys will feature special guest, Loretta Swit, beloved television icon, best-known for her longstanding role as Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan on the time-honored series M*A*S*H. Ms. Swit is also well known as a long-time activist for animals. She will be present to speak about her love for animals and her own experiences with turkeys.

The Celebration FOR the Turkeys includes a catered cruelty-free feast and the famous Feeding of the Turkeys Ceremony, where fortunate rescued turkeys, now enjoying the freedom of their peaceful safe haven, will feast on a special meal of squash, lettuce, cranberries and pumpkin pie.

Limited reservations are still available. Tickets cost $30 per person and registration is required. Those interested in reserving a space can call 607-583-2225 ext. 221. More information about the Adopt a Turkey Project can be found at www.adoptaturkey.org.
