Fourth of July Pignic to Kick off Independence Celebration at Farm Sanctuary
Guests Invited to Try a Veggie Dog and Give a Pig a Belly Rub
Watkins Glen, NY and Orland, CA - June 13, 2005 - Farm Sanctuary invites visitors to join hundreds of rescued farm animals as they celebrate their annual Pignic on Monday, July 4, 2005. Visitors will have the opportunity to take guided tours of the New York or California farms and sample free vegetarian hot dogs with all the fixin's. This event is free and open to the public.
Guests will come face-to-face with cows, pigs, sheep, turkeys and other farm animals that now make Farm Sanctuary their home. Tours will be held every hour, on the hour, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., and scrumptious veggie hot dogs will be served starting at noon. Guests can also browse through the rustic country gift shop and visitor center filled with educational displays, videos and literature.

Directions to NY Shelter
From Watkins Glen, follow Route 409 West (up hill on Fourth Street) and turn right onto Route 23/28. Stay on Route 23 as it branches off to the left (one mile). Continue on Route 23 for eight miles, then turn left onto Aikens Road. Follow Aikens Road for two miles until you see the Farm Sanctuary Visitor Center on the left at 3100 Aikens Road. Look for Farm Sanctuary signs along the way.

From Interstate 5, take the Orland exit marked Chico/Route 32. Turn west off the freeway. You will be on Newville Rd. Travel approximately 9 miles on Newville Road until you see Farm Sanctuary on the right hand side of the street at 19080 Newville Rd.
