Sophia
When
her family decided they were unable to care for her, Sophia was
left at an animal shelter in California. Like so many other unfortunate
rabbits in the country, she was cast aside when her "owners"
decided they did not want her anymore. Having been alerted to Sophia's
plight, an organization called the House Rabbit Society intervened
and contacted Farm Sanctuary.
We
were overjoyed to be able to help little Sophia and welcomed her
with open arms. She arrived at our California Shelter in an excitable
mood, eager for compassion and comfort. When we opened the door
to her carrier, she bounded out happily into the warm, clean straw
of our rabbit barn. Wasting no time making friends and exploring
her beautiful new home, Sophia seemed to know that she had come
to a very special place.
Sophia
is now a member of our Farm Sanctuary family. She is very popular
with her new rabbit friends and loves to run feverishly around the
barn with them or burrow in the straw. When she is not playing with
her new pals, Sophia spends her time munching on tasty, fresh veggies
and taking naps in the sun. Here at our California Shelter, surrounded
by friends and caregivers who love her, Sophia has not a care in
the world. She knows now that she will never be abandoned again.
