Feathered friends were the guests of honor at the Feeding of the Turkeys Ceremonies held at our New York and Northern California Shelters, where visitors offered stuffed squash, pumpkin pie, and cranberries to the delighted birds. Of course, Celebration FOR the Turkeys attendees, who feasted on their own vegan holiday fare, enjoyed presentations from some special human guests as well. Actress and animal advocate Daniela Sea, cookbook author Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, California Shelter Director Leanne Cronquist, Farm Sanctuary President and Co-Founder Gene Baur, and Herbivore Clothing Co-Owner Michelle Schwegmann presented at our California event, and legendary musician Jonathan Richman performed. Distinguished philosopher Tom Regan spoke at our New York event, along with Farm Sanctuary Executive Director Dr. Allan Kornberg. This year, for the first time, we also held a Celebration in New York City. Guests gathered at the landmark Tavern on the Green in Central Park for an elegant vegan brunch and a presentation by bestselling author Jonathan Safran Foer. The festivities concluded with a dessert reception featuring decadent creations from the city’s favorite pastry chefs.
