Human Resources Intern

In addition to traditional human resources functions, our Human Resources Department also manages Farm Sanctuary’s volunteer programs. The department team focuses on matching compassionate individuals with opportunities in which their talents and experience can support our mission. The Human Resources Intern provides administrative support in a wide range of program areas, including but not limited to volunteer inquiries, applicant tracking, safety programs, and online research projects. Intern will work with the department director as well as volunteer program coordinators and have the opportunity to build HR and volunteer management skills.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Assist with volunteer application processing and tracking
  • Volunteer program data entry projects
  • Assist with applicant correspondence and general inquiries
  • Provide support, including resource development, for safety programs
  • Online research projects
  • Filing projects, including organizational archive work
  • Assist with other administrative projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Great communication skills, customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills; Excel proficiency preferred
  • Strong internet research skills
  • Previous administrative experience required

Specifications:

  • Volunteer commitment of 40 hours per week
  • One month minimum commitment required; two to three months preferred
  • Shared housing available on the sanctuary premises
  • Position is available in Watkins Glen, NY
