On November 17, 2004, activists, celebrities, reporters, and public officials gathered to celebrate the passage of SB 1520, historic legislation banning foie gras in California, at the House of Blues in West Hollywood.

Supporter Sandy Lerner was presented with the "Defender of our Feathered Friends" award, while California State Senator John Burton was honored with the "Legislative Leader in Compassion" award. The event was attended by special guests James Cromwell, Corey Feldman, Valerie Harper, Tippi Hedren, Rue McClanahan, Persia White, Noah Wyle, and Gretchen Wyler and covered by major media from The New Yorker and People Magazine to Celebrity Justice — educating millions of readers about the cruelty of foie gras and the need for laws to end abusive factory farm practices.

Guests enjoyed delicious, cruelty-free "faux gras," reflected upon this momentous victory for our movement, and raised their glasses in honor of ducks and geese everywhere!
