Outstanding Activist!

Kari Nienstedt is a long-time activist who has donated hundreds of hours of her time and talent to help farm animals. Kari first started working with Farm Sanctuary when she joined our volunteer internship program in 1993. Kari received Farm Sanctuary's Friend of Farm Animals award for helping us build our California shelter.

Back in her hometown of Phoenix, Arizona, Kari organized annual Walk for Farm Animals events for the past 10 years. As a walkathon coordinator, Kari has directly raised thousands of dollars for farm animal rescue and protection efforts. In 2002, Kari served as the National Walkathon Coordinator, assisting walkathon coordinators across the country to make the 2002 walk event the best ever.

Kari was recently featured in The Phoenix New Times. As a result of this article, 132,000 more people were given the opportunity to learn about factory farming cruelties, and the alternatives. To read a copy of Kari's article, click here. Thank you, Kari, for your tireless efforts on behalf of suffering farm animals.

Together, we ARE making a difference. If you would like to find out more about volunteering your time to educate others about factory farming and vegetarianism, please contact us at activist@farmsanctuary.org, or call 607-583-2225 ext. 229. Click here to find out what YOU can do to help!
