Animal science experts have known for years that pigs are highly intelligent and sensitive animals they feel the pain of their torture on factory farms intensely, both physically and psychologically. Yet, their abuse continues each day. And, that is why pigs so urgently need your help. Please consider making a donation today to Farm Sanctuarys Pig Protection Campaign to help end their suffering. Producing litter after litter to maximize profits, sows are being pushed to their biological limits, and mortality rates are increasing on factory farms. Sadly, the survivors live only to suffer and then die a brutal death. At slaughterhouses, many pigs are inadequately stunned, leaving them merely paralyzed, feeling and watching their own journey to slaughter. Some enter the scalding tank fully conscious and are boiled alive.
Our investigations are playing the vital role of exposing the abuse that takes place behind closed doors. Through legal and legislative actions, we are passing laws to ban cruel agribusiness practices and ending the suffering of thousands of pigs. And, through our rescue programs, we are bringing abused and neglected pigs to safety, for rehabilitation and lifelong care at our shelters. Farm Sanctuary recently provided investigative footage to Los Angeles KNBC, which aired in an exposé for the evening news. This effort educated millions of viewers about the abuse of pigs on factory farms and challenged Corcpork, one of Californias largest breeding facilities, to stop torturing pigs.
When we lift a suffering piglet from a crate, and carry her in our arms to our rescue trailer, we often whisper to the pig to tell her that she doesnt need to be afraid anymore that she is on her way to a special place where she will be free, happy and cared for forever. With your help, pigs who once suffered untold pain and horrors can now live a peaceful, natural existence with mud and grass under their feet, and warm sun shining down on them. But this is an overwhelming task, and there is so much to do to accomplish what pigs so desperately need us to.
