Farm Animal Care Conference participants are welcome to camp at the sanctuary from Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21 only. The camping area will be open to guests beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19. The following information will ensure that you have a safe and fun camping experience at Farm Sanctuary’s New York Shelter.
If you are planning to camp at the sanctuary, you will be responsible for bringing your own equipment, including tents, bedding, and flashlights. The Visitor Barn restrooms will be open 24 hours a day. Please be aware that nighttime temperatures can be very cold in September, so come prepared with appropriate clothing and bedding. For your safety, and that of our animal residents, we ask that you please park and camp in designated areas. We will provide our conference participants with plenty of opportunities throughout the weekend to experience our shelter and spend quality time with the rescued animals. No guests will be allowed onto sanctuary grounds outside designated camping and recreation areas between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. unless accompanied by a Farm Sanctuary staff member.
If you would prefer hotel lodging, please see our list of local accommodations. We recommend that you make your reservations as soon as possible because nearby hotels fill up quickly.
Companion Animal Policy
For the safety of the animals in our care and yours, we are unable to accommodate your companion animals at the sanctuary.
Shower facilities are available in the Visitor Barn restrooms. Conference participants who are camping are allowed to use the showers during their stay at Farm Sanctuary. If you plan to use our shower facilities while camping, you will need to bring your own towels and toiletries.
Fire and Smoking Policy
Candles, camp stoves, campfires, and any other open flames in the sanctuary camping area are prohibited due to the risk of fire. Smoking is allowed, although we ask that you limit smoking to the front porch of the Visitor Barn.
Out of respect for our rescued farm animal residents as well as the mission of our organization, we ask that you refrain from consuming any animal products while visiting Farm Sanctuary. Please feel free to contact us with questions.
We hope this information will help maximize your enjoyment of your weekend with us. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at 607-583-2225 ext. 291 with questions. We look forward to seeing you at this year’s Farm Animal Care Conference!
