You won’t want to miss this unforgettable experience at Farm Sanctuary’s Northern California Shelter in Orland! Come spend the afternoon with us at our 300-acre sanctuary amongst Orland’s beautiful rolling hills and buttes. Guests are invited for an up-close and personal visit with the sanctuary animals while learning first-hand from farm animal experts about their individual personalities and behaviors, intelligence, emotional lives, and social bonds, as well as their inspiring and at times harrowing stories of survival.
Tara Oresick is the director of our Northern California Shelter, and Susie Coston is our national shelter director, visiting from Watkins Glen, New York. Together, they have over 20 years of experience with farm animals and know our animal residents better than anyone. Guests will feel the passion and love Susie and Tara bring to their work as they share intimate stories of rescuing and caring for these animals. This special tour will provide a window into the lives of these extraordinary animals — where they have come from and who they have become once shown love and care at Farm Sanctuary.
After the tour, guests are invited to the People Barn for refreshments with Farm Sanctuary’s experienced staff.
Tickets for A Guided Tour Experience are just $10. Register today!
Susie Coston, Farm Sanctuary’s national shelter director, joined us in March 2000, following six years working for a veterinarian and at a sanctuary in West Virginia. Susie is known for bringing the animals’ stories of love, loss, and life to the public. She ensures that the hundreds of farm animals sheltered at Farm Sanctuary each year receive the best possible care at every stage of their lives.
Tara Oresick has been the director of Farm Sanctuary’s Northern California Shelter since January 2012. She previously worked at our New York Shelter, starting as an intern in 2008, joining the staff as a caregiver in 2009, and becoming the shelter manager in 2010. Overseeing a full staff at the Northern California Shelter, Tara ensures that all of the sanctuary’s rescued animals receive expert, individualized care.
