Legal Clerkship, New Orleans, LA
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Researching legislation and case law
- Drafting memoranda to help develop novel litigation and other legal approaches to protect farm animals
- Assist the Director with all aspects of Farm Sanctuary’s legal campaigns
- Monitoring proposed legislation and regulations pertaining to farm animals and drafting comments
- Provide legal support to the Campaigns Department
Qualifications
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of animal protection issues
- Animal law background is preferable, although not required.
- Strong work ethic
- Commitment to Farm Sanctuary's goals and programs
Specifications:
- Duration of 10 weeks preferred; start and end dates are flexible
- Will work from Legal Director’s home office
- As this is an unpaid clerkship, Farm Sanctuary encourages prospective law clerks to arrange for public interest funding or, alternatively, course credit.
