A Unique Family's Annual Pilgrimage to Farm Sanctuary

Watkins Glen, NY - October 25, 2004 - The multi-cultural Crosby family traveled from South Boston this summer on their semi-annual pilgrimage to Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen. While staying at Farm Sanctuary's cozy Bed and Breakfast, Sondra and Alan Crosby and their five adopted children commooned with the cows on the farm tour and ate Tofutti Cutie soy ice cream bars from Farm Sanctuary's gift & snack shop. They also visited their monthly sponsored pig, 'Winnie', whom they have watched grow and grow over the years. 'Winnie' is in Farm Sanctuary's Adopt A Farm Animal program and is also featured in Farm Sanctuary's new video for children My Friends at the Farm. What makes the Crosby family so unique is that the five children, ranging in age from 4 years old to 12, come from three different countries. Isatu and Nanah were adopted from Sierra Leone in West Africa, Madison hails from China, and Ruslan and Curran Crosby were born in Kazakhstan, a former Soviet state. Their father, Alan, is a chemistry instructor at Boston University and their mother, Sondra, is an internist specializing in refugee health and human rights.
