Southern California Pignic

Celebrate Freedom at Farm Sanctuary!

On September 9, join Farm Sanctuary for a one-of-a-kind Pignic surrounded by rescued farm animals! Animal lovers of all ages are invited to attend this very special celebration, featuring a festive plant-based picnic, activities, face-painting, and an unforgettable opportunity to connect with farm animals who are now free to live out their days in peace at Farm Sanctuary’s Southern California Shelter in Acton, CA .

  • Visiting time with our rescued farm animal residents – rub a grateful pig’s belly, snuggle with a sheep, commune with a cow, pet a happy turkey, and more!
  • A plant-based picnic lunch featuring delicious, animal-friendly versions of favorite barbecue foods.
  • Experience creativity in the courtyard – have your caricature drawn by “The Simpsons” character designer Dale Hendrickson; get your face painted like your favorite farm animal; and enjoy a variety of farm-animal-themed crafts!
  • Learn fascinating details about farm animals in a presentation by Interim Shelter Manager Jessica Due.

Tickets are $30 for attendees 13 or older, $15 for children 4-12, and free for children 3 and under. This event is expected to sell out, so we encourage you to register today!

Please note: We are also seeking volunteers for this event. Sign up to lend a hand!

Jessica Due

Jessica Due serves as interim shelter manager of Farm Sanctuary in Acton, CA. Jessica is in her third year as a Farm Sanctuary employee, though she was a volunteer for several years prior to officially joining the animal caregiving team. A former Director of Animal Care with another farm animal sanctuary, lifelong vegetarian, and nearly decade-strong vegan, Jessica has always tried to be on the right side of history and fight against injustices to all species. In her free time, she enjoys gardening (using permaculture techniques), hiking, camping, painting, and playing music.

Volunteer Opportunities

Farm Sanctuary, a source of education and inspiration for thousands of individuals each year, relies on the dedication of volunteers. We are currently seeking volunteers for the Pignic and we would love to have your help!

Volunteers are needed to assist with all aspects of the event: setup, parking, registration, food service, gate assistance, staffing barns, cleanup, and more.
