Graphic Design Intern – Los Angeles, CA

The Graphic Design Intern will assist the Senior Graphic Designer in creating materials to support the various programs and departments at Farm Sanctuary. Work will include but is not limited to the creation of print materials such as posters, flyers, brochures, booklets, multi-mailers, and cards, as well as digital assets for web and email alerts. This intern will work closely with the Senior Graphic Designer and the rest of the communications department team to help support Farm Sanctuary’s image and further our goals and mission. While Graphic Design interns may also have opportunities to assist with other communications projects (determined by applicants’ skills and previous experience as well as organizational needs during their internship), the majority of the volunteer time will be focused on marketing and design work.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Develop and design print, web, digital, advertising, and marketing materials
  • Assist with merchandise product design and photography
  • Edit photos and resize images for print and web
  • Collaborate with Senior Designer on larger projects and publications, as needed
  • Additional tasks as assigned by supervisor


  • Position open to students working towards a degree in the art or design field
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Strong knowledge of design principles, layout, and typography
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of photography and photo editing
  • Great organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Portfolio or examples of work required
  • Knowledge of motion graphics a plus


  • Intern commitment of 40 hours per week (Individuals not available for a full time schedule are encouraged to submit a volunteer application instead)
  • One- to three-month commitment required
  • Must have own transportation
  • Must arrange own housing accommodations; no Farm Sanctuary housing is available for this position
