New York Hoedown guests are invited to spend the night under the stars at Farm Sanctuary! Camping with other guests is a great way to make friends and connect with like-minded people.
Our camping area will be open from 4 p.m. on Friday, August 10, until 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 12.
If you plan to camp at the sanctuary, you will be responsible for bringing your own equipment, including tents, bedding, and flashlights. The nearby Visitor Barn restrooms will be open 24 hours a day. Even in August, nighttime temperatures can be cold, so please come prepared with appropriate clothing and bedding. Individual fires are not permitted.
Upon your arrival at Farm Sanctuary, signage will direct you to the camping area. This year, we will have a separate “quiet zone” camping area for those who prefer it; look for signs to this area when you arrive. For your safety, and that of our animal residents, we ask that you please park and camp only in designated areas. We will provide guests with plenty of opportunities throughout the weekend to experience the sanctuary and spend quality time with our rescued residents. No guests will be allowed into animal barns or enclosures outside of designated sanctuary time on Saturday and Sunday.
Please be advised that the noise from the Saturday-night Hoedown dance may extend into the night. If you think this may be a problem for you, please prepare yourself with any items you may need to minimize the disturbance (e.g., earplugs). If you would prefer hotel lodging, please see our list of local accommodations. We recommend that you make your reservations as soon as possible, since nearby hotels fill up quickly.
Companion Animal Policy
For the safety of the animals in our care and yours, we are unable to accommodate your companion animals at the sanctuary.
Unfortunately, our facilities cannot handle the volume of water required to provide showers for Hoedown participants during their stay at Farm Sanctuary. Therefore, shower facilities will not be available during the Hoedown. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the understanding of our guests.
We will host a communal bonfire on Saturday night. All other fires at the sanctuary are prohibited. Smoking is allowed, although we ask that you limit your smoking to the designated smoking area near the Visitor Barn.
Farm Sanctuary permits the lawful consumption of alcohol in the Visitor Barn and designated camping areas. All guests who intend to consume alcohol at the event must show proper identification at the registration table. For the safety of all guests and animal residents, alcohol is not allowed in or around any of the barns or animal pastures at any time.
Out of respect for our rescued farm animal residents, as well as the mission of our organization, we ask that you refrain from consuming any animal products while visiting Farm Sanctuary. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
