A Day of Inspiration and Impact in Los Angeles: Farm Sanctuary 40th Anniversary Celebration

This month, our compassionate community gathered in Los Angeles for an uplifting day marking Farm Sanctuary’s 40th anniversary and supporting the next chapter of our ongoing mission for animals, people, and the planet.

Hosted by our friends Ambassadors James Costos and Michael Smith, the event was held on a beautiful California afternoon, as we joined advocates and changemakers who are making the world a kinder place for all.

In recognition of their vital efforts, we honored Jane Fonda (Environmental Impact Award), Charo (Compassionate Impact Award), and Senator Adam Schiff (Legislative Impact Award).

Guests enjoyed cocktails and delicious plant-based hors d’oeuvres and heard from inspiring speakers, including Farm Sanctuary President & Co-founder Gene Baur, our Board Chair Robert Procaccianti, Charo, Senator Adam Schiff, Moby, and Jane Velez-Mitchell.

All event donations benefited Farm Sanctuary’s bold $5 million 40th Anniversary Campaign, helping us write the next chapter as we continue to save farm animals in need, provide lifelong care to hundreds of rescued residents, educate the public on the harms of factory farming, and advocate for a more just and sustainable food system.

To amplify the impact of this incredible day, Moby announced a generous $40,000 match, doubling the impact of donations made at the event!

Accepting her Environmental Impact Award via video, legendary activist Jane Fonda issued a call to action for all who want to protect the planet we call home.

“We have to stand in kinship and humility with all sentient beings on earth,” said Jane Fonda, “and that means doing all we can to end an extractive and cruel industry like factory farming.” Watch and share her message below.

Deepest thanks from all of us at Farm Sanctuary go out to our Honorary Event Committee: Edie Falco, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Kate Mara, Moby, Paul Wesley, Diane Warren, Lisa Edelstein, Tig Notaro & Stephanie Allynne, Grace Kadoya, Jill Mazursky, and Meredith and Loewe Long.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at this special celebration or gave their support. Farm Sanctuary was founded in 1986 with the vision of a world where sanctuary replaces cruelty. Together, we are making that vision a reality.

40th Anniversary Campaign

For 40 years, Farm Sanctuary has led with courage, driving progress for animals, people, and the planet. In the years ahead, we will build on our proven three-pronged approach of rescue, education, and advocacy to confront the abuse of farm animals and inspire a more compassionate way of living. To make this vision possible, we have launched a bold $5 million 40th Anniversary Campaign. With a special gift of $2,500 or more, you will play a vital role in this milestone year.
