Tucker Carlson recently invited Farm Sanctuary President and Co-founder Gene Baur to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight ostensibly to debate veganism. Instead, viewers were surprised to see Carlson repeatedly use the phrase “I agree” with Gene on matters related to factory farming, kindness to animals, and avoiding unnecessary harm.

Carlson additionally called for sanctions against China due to its Yulin Festival dedicated to, as he put it, “murdering dogs.” But at Farm Sanctuary, we believe farm animals should be treated no differently from dogs. For the same reason most Americans wouldn’t think of eating a dog or a cat (and calling that humane), we at Farm Sanctuary wouldn’t think of calling the killing of a farm animal for food humane. All across the United States, factory farms dominate food production, employing abusive practices that maximize agribusiness profits at the expense of the environment, our communities, animal welfare, and even our health. Learn more about factory farming and find out how you can be a part of the solution to our broken food system.
