Farm Sanctuary's Board of Directors Reflects on 2023

As we approach the end of 2023, the Board of Directors of Farm Sanctuary reflects on a year filled with moments of profound gratitude and we want to share the good.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated supporters, staff, and volunteers, whose unwavering commitment fuels our vital mission to rescue farm animals and advocate for compassionate change.

This year, we witnessed countless acts of kindness and generosity. Your donations, volunteer hours, social media shares, and passionate advocacy have made a remarkable difference in the lives of farmed animals everywhere.

With your unwavering support, we rescued nearly 80 animals from factory farms, slaughterhouses, and other dire situations, providing them with much-needed care, either at our Watkins Glen and LA sanctuaries or through our dedicated Farm Animal Adoption Network (FAAN) members.

Farm Sanctuary was also able to expand our educational outreach programs by 35 percent this year, reaching 30,000 students across the U.S. with the message of compassion for farm animals.

Our advocacy efforts challenged the school milk mandate and advocated for students to have equitable access to healthy, nourishing foods. We endorsed the Farm System Reform Act, which restricts the expansion and abuses of factory farms and holds corporations responsible for pollution and other harm. Plus, Farm Sanctuary stood shoulder-to-shoulder with a coalition of allies, serving as an intervenor in the Supreme Court’s Prop 12 case — a successful voter initiative that bans the sale of pork from pigs that are cruelly confined — and the nation’s highest court upheld this important legislation.

We achieved all of this work thanks to you. We are deeply touched by your unwavering support. Every email, phone call, and social media message sharing your love for animals reminds us of the powerful impact we can achieve together.

Although 2023 was a challenging year for many, your unwavering dedication never faltered. You inspired us with your resilience and renewed our commitment to building a kinder world for all beings.

As we look towards 2024, we are filled with hope and optimism. We are driven by your tireless support and the ever-growing movement for animal rights. Together, we can create a world where all animals are treated respectfully and compassionately.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for being a part of the Farm Sanctuary family. We look forward to continuing this journey of compassion with you in the coming year.
