Here’s Why Mia Pig, a Mom of Five, Deserves a Spa Day!

Give Mia Pig a Break!

Your one-time $35 gift in honor of Mia will support the care of our residents as we give this mom of five extra pampering. In thanks, we’ll send you a certificate showing Mia enjoying her Mother’s Day mud bath!

We saved Mia pig and her day-old piglets from a backyard butcher. At Farm Sanctuary, they’re living their best lives together.

Help us as we care for our rescued residents and give Mia a break this Mother’s Day by sponsoring her as we give this mom of five a mud bath!

Did you know that mother pigs build warm, comfortable nests? They even sing to their piglets! Like Mia, other pig moms will protect their piglets, too. After all, a mother’s love is both fierce and kind, strong and gentle. To Mia, her family is everything.

When we found Mia at the filthy farm we had been called to once before, she had sadly already lost some of her piglets — but five tiny, day-old babies were still with their mom and in need of help.

Experiencing the first kindness her family had known, Mia was intensely protective of her piglets when she arrived at our New York sanctuary, even knocking down one of our hospital walls to reach them during health checks. Yet, as she’s witnessed our gentleness and patience, she has let down her guard and will even accept the occasional pat from caregivers. Treats are okay, too!

We know Mia pig deserves all the pampering, and we’ll honor her this Mother’s Day with a “spa day” mud bath!

Will you make this holiday celebrating moms, mother figures, and nurturers like Mia even more meaningful this year?

When you give a one-time $35 gift to Farm Sanctuary by May 12, you will sponsor the care of our rescued residents and support us as we offer Mia her special pampering.

Along with Mia pig, we’re offering a special spa day to her fellow farm animal mothers: Evie sheep (back massage) and Liberty cow (“blowout”). Can’t decide who to celebrate? Add another “service” – or give the “full spa day package” of all three for $90.

Thank you for supporting compassion for all moms this Mother’s Day!

Mia pig stands in the woods at Farm Sanctuary
  • Rescue date: January 17, 2018
  • Lives at: Farm Sanctuary New York
  • Her Story: Mia is a loving mother of five, but her family once faced a terrible fate. In 2018, Farm Sanctuary returned to a backyard butcher for a second rescue. Again, we found horrible suffering. Pigs were in filthy facilities without food and water. With the local SPCA, we rescued those desperately needing care, including Mia – underweight and suffering from mange. Sadly, some of her babies had died, but she had five tiny, day-old piglets. Mia was understandably protective, once tearing down our hospital doors to reach her babies during health checks! But Crawford, Helena, Iman, Wayne, and Woody have grown into healthy pigs in our care. Seeing that we’re kind to her piglets, Mia has lowered her guard enough for the occasional affection. Thankfully, the backyard butcher can never “own” animals again – and Mama Mia’s family will always be safe with us. We’re so happy to give this strong mom of five a break with a special mud bath!
