Nine Reasons You Need a Getaway to Farm Sanctuary

Looking for a unique and relaxing getaway this year? Need a little self-care for someone who cares about animals and our planet? Consider a stay at Farm Sanctuary New York!

Our picturesque sanctuary sits on 275 acres in Watkins Glen, nestled in the popular and scenic Finger Lakes region. When you cozy up in one of our cabins or tiny houses or camp on our peaceful grounds, you’ll experience a place that’s home to hundreds of rescued farm animals, and for your stay, a haven of your own, too.

Please note: Stays must be booked in advance, and spots fill up quickly! Book your getaway today for now through December. If booking a cabin or tiny house for this September or October, use code FALL15 for 15 percent off your stay!

Have you planned your trip to stay with us yet? If not, here are nine reasons to do it today!

1. You need to escape into nature for a while

Are you feeling cooped up in your home or office? Come outside, enjoy the sunshine, and take a moment to catch your breath. At our expansive New York sanctuary, there’s plenty of room for you to roam and enjoy the outdoors as you spend time with our animal residents.

2. You love cozying up in a charming cabin or tiny house

When you book your stay with us, you can choose from one of our charming cabins (like the Lux Cabin, with a full kitchen and private bathroom) or our beautiful tiny houses (pictured above). Either way, you’ll be ready to enjoy a sustainable stay filled with comfort and compassion.

3. You want to sleep under the stars

Want to immerse yourself in nature and the sanctuary experience even more? Come find out why HipCamp just named us a Gold Star Host! Sleep beneath the starry night sky in our peaceful camping area. Bring your tent and other camping gear, but other than that, just get ready to relax and be in the moment. Book your camping stay here.

4. Animal rescue stories warm your heart

Each animal at Farm Sanctuary has a moving story to tell. Some have survived abuse or neglect, while others came here thanks to a farmer’s change of heart or because a loving guardian knew they needed a new home. You’ll meet our residents, learn their history, and discover how we ensure their future.

5. You like to start your day with a delicious breakfast

You won’t have to leave the sanctuary to start your day with a tasty and compassionate breakfast. We have a vegan cafe on site! Breakfast is included each day of your stay, and the cafe’s open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for lunch orders if you want to refuel with another plant-powered meal!

At our Sanctuary Shop, you can browse compassionate and eco-friendly goods, knowing that your purchase will support our mission to rescue, educate, and advocate. There’s something for everyone, from clothing to home goods, books, and so much more. Can’t visit? Shop online!

7. Supporting or volunteering for a good cause is important to you

Do you want to get active in helping farm animals? You can combine your stay with helping at the sanctuary by volunteering. We have various volunteer opportunities on-site. Apply here, and if you can’t come in person, you can choose remote volunteering. And if you can’t volunteer, don’t worry; your stay supports our work!

8. You've always wanted to visit the beautiful Finger Lakes

Expand your getaway fun with an adventure beyond the sanctuary and into the beautiful Finger Lakes region. Hike scenic trails, browse wineries, take in the peaceful sights and sounds of waterfalls, and stop by the famous Watkins Glen International Speedway.

9. You want a vacation to leave you feeling hopeful for animals, people, and the planet
