The Real Happy Animals of Farm Sanctuary

Happy Animals are in Sanctuary, Not Factory Farms

Factory farming tries to sell us a fantasy. Misleading labels on meat, dairy, and egg products depict farm animals living glamorous lives in perfect pastures. But let’s get real—this is nothing but scripted drama.

Of the nearly 10 billion animals killed for human consumption each year in the United States, 99% endure a harsh reality on factory farms, where profit takes center stage and the animals’ well-being isn’t even in the picture. They suffer extreme confinement, painful mutilations, and slaughter at a young age after being bred to grow unnaturally large very quickly.

So where are the real happy animals?

We see the answer every day at Farm Sanctuary! It’s written all over the faces of our rescued residents, who are living free from harm, engaging in their natural behaviors, and forming bonds with members of their own species and beyond.

In the ultimate plot twist, these factory farm survivors are now starring in their own “Happily ever after!”

What’s more, they become ambassadors for all farmed animals and advocates for our mission to build a better future—in which all animals, no matter their species, can shine.
