The farm’s owner was charged with 90 counts of felony animal cruelty, and thanks to a cross-sanctuary effort to rescue the survivors, many homes were found and lives were saved—including Nirva, one of 10 sheep who came to Farm Sanctuary.

When she arrived, Nirva was emaciated, so we didn’t know she was pregnant—and we got quite the joyful surprise when our caregivers found her lamb, Ashley, peacefully snuggled up in the sheep barn one morning soon after Nirva’s rescue. Each day since, this gentle sheep has shown what a loving and caring mother she is, and she delights in cuddles with Ashley.
