No experience needed to enjoy this weekend celebration of compassionate living

ORLAND, CALIF. – On May 18 and 19, Farm Sanctuary will give virgin vegans, the veg-curious, long-time vegans, and everyone else in-between a taste of the lifestyle ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of their “best overall” at their annual Country Hoe Down. This exciting weekend set against the stunning backdrop of the organization’s 300-acre Orland-based Northern California Shelter offers great vegan food, sanctuary time with hundreds of rescued farm animals, hayrides, cooking demonstrations, barn dancing, and presentations from inspiring speakers.

Speakers Include:

  • Linda Long, author of Virgin Vegan: The Meatless Guide to Pleasing Your Palate, who will share tips on how to cook great vegan food and present it in the best way to advocate for animals

  • Captain Cindy Machado, Director of Animal Services at Marin Humane Society, who will speak on farm animal law enforcement

  • Chef AJ will round out the program with a lively cooking demonstration featuring tasty vegan foods without added sugar, salt, or oil

For decades, Farm Sanctuary’s Hoe Down has served as a fun, educational conference where guests can come together to learn about the latest farm animal protection and plant-based living issues. This year, with veganism cited as one the Top Five Consumer Health Trends for 2013, the event is attracting even more people eager to learn about the lifestyle being embraced by the likes of Bill Clinton, Venus Williams, Anne Hathaway, Mike Tyson, and countless other famous faces.

This popular event sells out quickly. Guests are encouraged to register today.
